What Rattles Your Cage

I came across a blog today that asked my opinion. YIKES! Although you might not be able to tell from my blog...so far...I am a fairly opinionated person. There are somethings I don't argue about because I either don't think I am going to convince a person to change their mind (Republican vs. Democrat) or because I don't have enough information on the topic. When I do have all the info...back the f up.

So, I am interested, what topics really get you going? I don't want any pointing of fingers or nasty words for those that might hold a different opinion, just what you might be passionate about. Have at it. Mine will be in the first comment.

The ethical treatment of animals (I still eat them but I think we can do better than chickens/cows/pigs etc in boxes unable to move their entire life)

Childhood immunization (the one that got me going today)

Education

Yep, that first one of yours bothers me a lot. I would be veggie if I didn't live with the rest of my brood!! You can choose for yourself but not for others.

Hi Scargosun and Sub, well for me it's intolerance of other faiths; that gets my goat. The planet is big enough for everyone to do their own thing about God, or no God, or any God if they so wish.

And I think it's a pretty poor show that most of the democratic world gives women driving licenses...what's that about? (THAT WAS A JOKE.............)

Okay, its getting really erie how much we are alike. If you are ever in Ohio, let me know. We gotta meet. Ok, I too don't argue about R vs D when it comes to people picking their party. I have learned its pointless. I also don't try to discuss anything with folks unless I have all the facts.

If this gets long, I apologize.

Religion is a huge one for me. I personally don't have a faith and therefore don't want anyone else's pushed on or preached to me. As Bs5 said, I wish people were more tolerant of other's religions as a whole.

Gay rights and marriage. Why can't people just let get over this and let gay and lesibans led their own private lives? Gay marriages don't hurt anyone!!!! I am soooo sick of the hate in this country.

Stupid people. Nuf said. LOL

1. Ignorance. Unfortunately, in the Dirty D it runs rampant.

2. Discrimination. By anyone. Unfortunately, again, in the Dirty D it runs rampant and for the record, I am the minority.

3. Politics. I believe in the power of choice and nothing makes me more sick than hearing everyone say they just don't like either of this year's presidential candidates, but they refuse to "vote outside the box."

Oh, I have so many opinions. And in my blog I try not to rile anyone up.

Some of the things that get me going - we are Christian. But sometimes I hate the image that is portrayed on the news. We look like a bunch of judgemental buffoons.

And speaking of...I can get pretty riled up about evolution. That whole "it's just a theory" thing makes me crazed. Yep, it's a theory. Just like gravity. The dissenters don't understand what it says.

And education. We homeschool (hence my issues with the top two - and that people find out we homeschool, automatically assume certain things about the above two issues) - and we are in public school.

And the last - is simply a pet peeve. But it totally drives me nuts. Especially as a Latin teacher. And that is the use of the word "decimate." Which the media uses to express "total devestation." But it does not mean that. It means to reduce by 10%. And that is all. Big difference.

Oh, see just the question got me going! :-)

Public education. I am for it. Many disparage it.

The self-centeredness of so many people..."ME first!" and no consideration whatsoever for anyone around them. That BUGS me.

Here's one: Airline security. A handful of guys with box cutters and a threat changed our world. Now my 12 year old daughter can't even carry on a bottle of water.

Has anyone ever been able to demonstrate airline security ever made us any safer? The 911 terrorists could have done what they did with no weapons at all because until then, we always thought hijacking was about negotiating hostages, not suicide and murder. It would be impossible now to hijack a plane even with guns because the passengers would rise up in waves and overpower the terrorists like United Flight 93.

So screen the suspicious guys but let my white haired grandmother carry on her cough medicine and an Emory board.

I'll keep it short and sweet and say that mine is religion, and the belief that everyone should be free to practice whichever faith they chose. Well...you know why.

I'm with kccatand mama dawg. I get bothered by:

Discrimination in all its creative forms

God bothers

Stupidity and its club footed friend, anti-intellectualism, and its can't be arsed acquaintance, apathy.

Cruelty to humans, animals or the planet

Lack of imagination

Lack of empathy

Lack of hope

… you wouldn't of thought I was basically pretty easy going, with a slight huffy side.

I'm a pretty non-confrontational person, but things that will ruffle my feathers are:

Abortion

Religion

Illegal immigration

Intolerance and ignorance

Evolution

I'll keep my personal opinions to myself, as this IS your blog (and I AM non-confrontational) :)

More than anything, ignorance.

After that: abortion...immigration...energy needs...women in athletics (and their lack of presence and/or appreciation)...

Ah heck, just about everything gets me going...shoot. I guess I just love to argue.

Big number One: Ignorance, along with the complete lack of desire to improve one's mind or circumstances.

Two: Intolerance. Lack of interest in opening on's mind to another's point of view.

Three: I'd have to agree with Alaina, lack of common sense.

Wow...good post...I missed a lot last week. (Life was crazy...still is, but things have settled down. Some.)

Um...what Kat said goes for me, too. We are Christians, but we're not judgemental buffoons either. I respect everyone's right to their own opinion. And we are hardcore Republicans, but it's never been an issue with any of our friends who are Democrats. Again, I respect everyone's right to their own opinion. I refuse to fight over Obama vs. McCain. Just vote for whom you're gonna vote for and let that be your final word.

I hate any kind of abuse against children. Don't even get me started on human sex trafficking of minors. Now that really rattles my cage.

I hate racism. My brother's son is biracial. My nephew is the light of my life, after my 2 daughters. I would get into a Jerry Springer-esque fist fight if anyone ever made Logan feel inadequate because of his skin color or race. Yep, that probably rattles my cage the most.

Are you sorry you asked?
