Positively Positive!

You don't usually get that from me do you? Being winter I am in an Eeyore like state and I seem to speak in a low monotone and look down at the floor a lot.

Not today!

Something wonderful happened today. It may seem small in comparison to the economic crisis and salmonella-ed peanut butter but I am overjoyed with it...

My 10 year old neighbor came outside today and asked if I needed help shoveling my driveway.

I think that is just one of the best things ever. His Mom wasn't even aware that he did it. He just came out with his shovel and asked if I needed any help.

Now I know that many of you that I have gotten to know through blogging have kids that would do the exact same thing but this was a first for me. The more I think about it the more I want to do something for his parents because I realize that is where the idea truly came from. It may have not been said but good parenting is priceless and when your child can reflect that parenting in their personality and share it with the world, it's magical.

Sometimes great things happen when you least expect it ... not for me today, I was shoveling at 6:00 a.m.

How about a card saying "thanks for raising a wonderful person."

Great Eeyore alliteration, yup, we all seem to be in Eeyore mode!

That is a great story! What a nice kid! And good for you to thank his parents for that!

Yeah, that probably wouldn't have been one of my kids... So, no gift for me.
:-(

However, if your computer stopped working for some reason my son would be happy to help out with that... So, brownie points for me?
<:-)

P.S. If winter doesn't end soon, enough of the Eeyore, I'm gonna start goin' 'Red Ross' on somebody's ass.

Couple of things.

One, doesn't that just make you feel good?

Two, thank you for recognizing that part of that kind of behavior is taught by the parents. Makes me feel good to hear compliments about LOML and I know that part of it is because it's what I taught her. I may not get the acknowledgement for it, but it's still nice to know that people are appreciating her good behavior.

You rock! And so does the neighbor kid!

That's a sweet story! Did you let him help, and was it fun?

You are sooo right. I shouldn't be, but am constantly surprised when my kids commit an unselfish act just without my prompting.

They have to learn it somewhere.

Glad you got to experience it in this gloomy time for you.

Scargosun: Heartwarming, kids are lovely. YS went up to another mother who was sitting on her own at the top of the playground and asked her if she wanted to come and sit next to me. Awww. When OS was off sick from school, I asked him what he wanted me to bring home for him and he said "love." Kids are great.

This just must have been the week for kids on their best behavior. We grown-ups just missed the memo; glad I got to witness it though :D
