Extremely Angry

This is a bit of a rant. Forgive me if it goes astray.

Please, someone explain to me how it is that one person who did something irresponsible is having things taken from them when another who was irresponsible is getting acclaim?

Who am I talking about? Michael Phelps and Nadya Suleman. Michael Phelps made a poor decision in an instant while Ms. Suleman plotted to grab media attention by having multiple children for years. She is using them to generate income and she planned to do this. Who is going to suffer from Michael Phelp's mistake? Only him. There are no children going out and buying bongs and sucking on paper towel cardboard rolls to be like him. It's just not going to happen so don't try to say he should lose everything. Who is going to suffer from Ms. Suleman's plot - her children...all 14 of them. By the way, where do you think the money is coming from right now for these kids whose mother is unemployed? The government. Who pays the government? Taxpayers, that's right, you and me so we suffer too.

So before you condemn Michael Phelps for destroying HIS OWN brain cells (it being his choice and all) think about how much money taxpayers are going to have to put out for Ms. Suleman's kids. It was her choice to use her children in this way and nothing sickens me more at the moment.

My Island may have a new inhabitant very, very soon.

Michael Phelps is a college student...what did a lot of us do in college. Exactally what he did only differance is he is famous! I think he should have used better judgement and shame on his friend who took the picture. I hope this blows over for him. As for the woman who had 8 more children....UGH!!!!!!! The Dr's should be ashamed!!!!! It is WRONG!

I AGREE!

The way I feel about it is: Michael Phelps toked up a little. Who f'n cares? He's 23 years old, and only did what a lot of 23 year olds do. He's still a World Record holder and multi-gold medalist. So all his critics can suck it.

So far as Nadya Suleman goes...it's a vagina, not a clown car.

AGREED!

And it's a vagina not a clown car is my new favorite saying.

Welcome to the island, my friend!

I wish the media would pick up on this angle you've presented so very well in your post.

And any way you look at it, we are going to end up supporting those very innocent children. That being the case, I would give ANYTHING if the media would totally ignore that unbelievably selfish mother. I also strongly feel that the clinic, Dr.'s and everyone else involved with every birth should have to pay a good portion of what it's going to take to raise those kids. Who would knowingly help an out-of-work woman become pregnant the first time, let alone the 7th time with multiple damn embryos??? It's unconscionable. Period.

Oh, forgot to add, I totally agree with you and everyone else about Michael Phelps - what is happening to him isn't appropriate to what he did.

I think they are both morons. The more I hear about Michael Phelps...the bigger douche bag he seems to be. I've read a few blogs who have seen him out and about and he seems to be a major asshat. Do I agree that he is getting ripped apart by the media? Not necessarily...but I think this particular incident is one of many stupid things he has done since being in the limelight.
And the woman? Selfish bitch.

Phelps made a really bad decision - it will affect him financially. He should be smarter than that ... But, he is only 23 ... people need to forget about it.

I think that Michael Phelps is getting too much media attention, but to an extent I think it's a good thing. He is a role model to millions of kids, and he isn't setting a good example. All I can say is that I'm glad he's taking responsibility for his (stupid) actions.

And Octo-Mom? I understand the fascination, but she's turned her family into a circus. I believe in a woman's right to have children, but you need to be able to afford them YOURSELF.

My husband and I were talking about the mother. Having gone through invitro ourselves we are wondering just how in the heck she could afford this, how in the heck the doctors would agree to this and wondering when America will wise up and become like Germany (where we underwent treatment) and begin a 3 embryo implantation limit.
I too love the clown car reference.
As for Michael Phelps, I think many of his sponsors are doing the right thing by ending his contracts.

Michael phelps...pot smoker...welcome to the world, most americans are tokers. Kids will smoke dope regardless of who is glorifying it. I dont see anything wrong with weed, its made by God. Cigs on the other hand...

As far as the woman with 14 kids. There are so many things about that, that pisses me off its unreal. I think she needs those kids taken from her for selfishness alone. How are you going to raise 14 children in your parents 3 bedroom house? Without a job? kids are expensive! Im all about the miracle of life, but damn, what she did was a science experiment for the clinically insane!

p.s
I doubt if Micheal Phelps was at the olympics smokin weed, if that were the case he wouldnt have done so well, or maybe not even showed up, because when your high you just want to chill out.

Now..had it been meth....

Im just sayin.

Well yeh! Cant argue with you - its a disgrace, and selfish. Think of the kids too - how many are there? Some psychological problems are bound to crop up for them.

I agree, but this where science and logic just dont work.
I am all for legalizing it because how many people have you heard going to the hospital for smoking too much weed. I lost a few friends to alcohol poisioning, but that is still legal and destroying people on a daily basis. Michael Phelps is still my hero, and that woman....well I dont think we should celebrate the fact she had Dr.Frankinstein inject her with eggs.
